Can I delay prayer to finish watching a game?

Yes, as long as the prayer time hasn't run out. Each prayer has a time window, and praying later within it is allowed. But letting a game push a prayer past the end of its time is a serious sin, and watching a match isn't a valid excuse.
Every prayer has a window
Roughly, Dhuhr runs until Asr begins, Asr until sunset (though leaving it until the sun turns yellow is disliked), Maghrib until the red twilight disappears, Isha until midnight by the preferred view, and Fajr until sunrise. Maghrib is the shortest, often around an hour to an hour and a half, so it's the one most often lost to a match. Your prayer app shows when each time ends. See Can I trust prayer time apps?
Early is still better
When the Prophet ﷺ was asked which deed Allah loves most, he said, "Prayer at its proper time" (Sahih al-Bukhari 527). He also warned that whoever misses the Asr prayer is like someone who has lost his family and his wealth (Sahih al-Bukhari 552). So delaying within the window is allowed, but it isn't the ideal, and missing the window is something to take very seriously.
How to fit prayer around a match
- Pray before kick-off if the time has already started.
- Use half-time. Fifteen minutes is plenty for wudu and a four-rak'ah prayer.
- Pause or record. Streaming services let you rewind; the match will still be there in ten minutes.
- At the stadium, find a quiet corner or prayer room at half-time.
Combining prayers is for travel and real need, not for entertainment. See Can I combine prayers because of my class schedule? Friday matches have their own rules for men. See Can I miss Jumu'ah for a football match?
If you already missed it
Don't despair and don't skip it. Pray it as soon as you remember, ask Allah for forgiveness, and plan better next time. The majority of scholars say a prayer missed without an excuse must still be made up. One slip doesn't define you; what matters is fixing it and not making it a habit.
- You may delay a prayer within its time window.
- Praying at the start of the time is best.
- Letting the time run out for a game is a sin.
- Use half-time or pause the stream to pray.
