Can I go to the gym while in janabah?

Yes, you can. Janabah is the state of major ritual impurity that needs a full bath (ghusl). It doesn't stop you from going to the gym, lifting or running. What it does stop is prayer. So take ghusl as soon as you can, and always before the time of the next prayer runs out.
Janabah doesn't make you unclean as a person
Abu Hurairah once met the Prophet ﷺ in a street in Medina while he was in janabah. He slipped away to wash, because he didn't want to sit with the Prophet ﷺ in that state. When he came back, the Prophet ﷺ said, "Subhan Allah! A believer never becomes impure" (Sahih al-Bukhari 283). So there is no shame in it. You can go outside, meet people and work out. Nothing you touch becomes impure because of you.
What janabah does affect
The Quran says that prayer needs a full bath when you are in this state:
- Prayer: you can't pray until you have taken ghusl.
- Quran recitation: most scholars say wait for ghusl. Dhikr and dua are fine. See Can I read the Quran in a state of janabah?
- Sweating: a workout doesn't remove janabah. Only a proper ghusl does. See How do I do ghusl?
The best plan: ghusl first, then train
If you can, take ghusl at home before you leave. It's private, it's clean, and your prayer isn't hanging over your workout. This matters most in the early morning: if janabah happens at night or before Fajr, wash first, pray, then go.
If a prayer time is about to start, or has already started, wash and pray before you head out. Ghusl takes only a few minutes, and a workout is never a reason to let a prayer slip. See Is it haram to delay prayer?
If you can only wash after the workout
Scholars say delaying ghusl is allowed as long as you don't miss a prayer because of it. The Prophet ﷺ himself, when he wanted to sleep while in janabah, would wash his private parts and make wudu (Sahih al-Bukhari 288), which shows that ghusl does not have to happen the very second. Some practical points:
- Check that no prayer time will end before you can wash and pray.
- A gym shower only counts as ghusl if you do it properly, with the intention and with water reaching your whole body.
- Open showers are a problem if others are uncovered. Cover yourself or shower at home. See Can Muslim men change in an open gym locker room?

- Janabah doesn't stop you from exercising, going out or being around people.
- It does stop prayer until you take ghusl.
- Ghusl before leaving home is the easiest way to protect your prayer time.
- Never let a prayer time pass just to finish a workout.
