Can I make up missed morning and evening adhkar?

Yes, if you miss your morning or evening adhkar, you can still say them later, and many scholars encourage it. They are not obligatory, so missing them is not a sin. Saying them late is still dhikr with reward, though the best time is the one the sunnah describes.
When are the adhkar supposed to be said?
Allah tells us to glorify Him at the two ends of the day.
Most scholars say the morning adhkar are best from Fajr until sunrise, and the evening adhkar from Asr until Maghrib. Some scholars extend the times: the morning ones until just before Dhuhr, and the evening ones into the first part of the night. So if you say the evening adhkar after Maghrib, many scholars would say you're still within the time. For the list itself, see What are the morning and evening adhkar?
The evidence for making them up
There's no direct hadith about making up the adhkar specifically, but scholars point to how the Prophet ﷺ treated missed voluntary worship:
- Whoever sleeps through his nightly portion of worship and does it between Fajr and Dhuhr gets the reward as if he did it at night (Sahih Muslim 747).
- When illness or sleep kept the Prophet ﷺ from his night prayer, he prayed twelve rak'ahs during the day (Sahih Muslim 746).
From this, scholars such as an-Nawawi said it is good to make up regular voluntary worship you missed, so you don't get used to dropping it.
Do I still get the protection?
Some adhkar promise protection "until the evening" or "until the morning". A few scholars say that specific promise is tied to saying them on time. Others are more hopeful. Either way, saying them late is far better than not at all, and Allah's generosity is wide. Don't overthink it: say them when you remember, and aim for the right time tomorrow.
Making it easier
- Say them while getting ready, walking or commuting. See Can I do dhikr while driving or working?
- Read them from an app or a small booklet; you don't need to memorise them first. See Can I read my duas from my phone or a paper?
- If time is short, choose a few core ones, like Ayat al-Kursi and the last three surahs, rather than skipping everything.
- Missing the adhkar is not a sin; they are voluntary.
- You can say them later, and scholars encourage making up regular worship.
- Many scholars allow the evening adhkar after Maghrib too.
- Late is better than never; aim for the best time next day.
