Can I play music and games on Eid?

Yes, games are welcome, and some music is allowed on Eid. Eid is a day of play and joy, and the Prophet ﷺ allowed singing and the daff (a frame drum) in his own home on Eid. Scholars differ on other musical instruments, so many Muslims stick to voice and daff. Games are fine as long as there's no gambling or anything haram.
Eid is meant to be fun
When the Prophet ﷺ arrived in Medina, people had two yearly days "on which they engaged in games." He said Allah had replaced them with something better: the two Eids (Sunan Abi Dawud 1134). So celebrating with play is part of the day, not something to feel guilty about.
Aisha also described an Eid day when men were playing with shields and spears in a festive display, and the Prophet ﷺ let her watch (Sahih al-Bukhari 950).
What about singing and music?
On Eid, two young girls were singing in Aisha's house. Abu Bakr objected, calling it "Musical instruments of Satan," but the Prophet ﷺ told him that every nation has its Eid, and this is ours (Sahih al-Bukhari 952). In another narration from the days of Eid al-Adha, girls were beating the tambourine and the Prophet ﷺ said, "Leave them" (Sahih al-Bukhari 988).
- Widely accepted: most scholars allow singing with clean lyrics and the daff on Eid and at weddings, based on these hadith.
- Disputed: other instruments (guitar, piano, electronic beats). Most classical scholars of the four schools disallowed them; some scholars past and present allow music with decent content.
- Everyone agrees to avoid: lyrics about alcohol, sex or anything haram, and music that pulls you away from prayer.
