Not usually. Posting dance videos publicly puts movement, clothing and often music in front of a huge, mixed audience, and most scholars advise against it. Dancing in a private, modest setting is treated differently, but once it is online, you lose control over who sees it.

The issue is modesty and audience

Islam asks both men and women to lower their gaze and guard their chastity:

قُل لِّلْمُؤْمِنِينَ يَغُضُّوا۟ مِنْ أَبْصَـٰرِهِمْ وَيَحْفَظُوا۟ فُرُوجَهُمْ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ أَزْكَىٰ لَهُمْ ۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ خَبِيرٌۢ بِمَا يَصْنَعُونَ "undefined" Quran 24:30

The next verse asks believing women not to reveal their adornments except what normally appears (Quran 24:31). A public dance video, especially in tight clothing or with suggestive movement, draws attention to the body for strangers. Even if your intention is innocent, you cannot control how it is watched, saved or reshared.

What about the dancing itself?

Scholars have different views. Some allow simple, modest dancing in the right setting, such as among women at a wedding or in a family celebration. Others are stricter. Most agree that anything suggestive, mixed or attention-seeking is not appropriate. If you feel unsure, ask a trusted imam about your situation.

Music in the background

Many platforms push trending audio. Scholars differ on instruments and music, and many take a cautious position. If you follow the stricter view, avoid music; if you follow a more lenient view, still avoid lyrics that are immoral or glorify sin. See a related guide on video creation. Safer ways to share your fun

  • Keep it private. Dance at home with family or friends of the same gender, without posting.
  • Share other talents. Cooking, crafts, fitness tips, nasheeds or comedy that is clean and kind.
  • Use a private account if you share with close family only, and check who can download or forward.
  • Think of the long term. A video posted at 17 can still be online at 37.
