Can I still eat pizza as a Muslim if I pick off the pepperoni?

No. Pepperoni is usually made from pork, or a mix of pork and beef, and picking it off doesn't solve the problem. Its grease melts into the cheese and the crust while it bakes. The good news: you can still eat pizza. Just order halal pepperoni or a veggie pizza.
Pork is clearly forbidden
The Quran mentions pork directly:
Because pork fat soaks into everything around it in the oven, most scholars say the whole pizza is affected, not only the slices of pepperoni. The same goes for bacon, ham, salami and most sausage toppings.
What about beef or turkey pepperoni?
Beef or turkey pepperoni doesn't contain pork, but the meat still needs to be halal. In most pizza chains in Europe and the USA, it isn't. Some scholars allow meat slaughtered by Christians or Jews, but factory meat often doesn't meet that standard either. See Can I eat Thanksgiving turkey with my family? for that debate.
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said that between the clearly halal and the clearly haram there are doubtful matters, and whoever avoids them protects their religion (Sahih al-Bukhari 52). Meat of unknown origin is a good example.
How to order pizza as a Muslim
- Halal pizza places: common in the UK, France, Germany and big US cities. Search "halal pizza near me."
- Veggie or seafood pizza: margherita, mushroom, tuna, or veggie supreme.
- Ask for a clean cutter: the pizza wheel often goes through pepperoni pizzas all day.
- Cheese: some cheeses use animal rennet. Many scholars allow it, others prefer vegetarian rennet.
What if you already ate it?
If you didn't know, or it was before you became Muslim, there's no sin. Islam doesn't hold you responsible for honest mistakes, and the Quran says there's no blame for what you do by mistake (Quran 33:5). From now on, just double-check the toppings. If someone kindly orders you a pepperoni pizza, a polite "I don't eat pork, but thank you" is enough.
