Can I wear deodorant while fasting?

Yes. Wearing deodorant doesn't break your fast. Scholars agree that what you put on your skin doesn't count as eating or drinking. Roll-ons and sticks are no problem at all; with sprays, just avoid breathing the mist in on purpose.
Why deodorant doesn't break the fast
The fast is broken by things like eating, drinking and intercourse during daylight, and by deliberately taking something into the stomach through the mouth or nose. Deodorant stays on your skin. The same goes for lotion, sunscreen, hand cream and lip balm (as long as you don't lick it off).
Islam doesn't ask you to make fasting harder than it is:
What about spray deodorant and perfume?
- Aerosol sprays: fine to use. Spray away from your face and don't inhale the mist deliberately, since some scholars treat deliberately inhaled particles like taking something in.
- Perfume: most scholars say putting on and smelling perfume doesn't break the fast. Some recommend skipping strong scents during the day out of caution.
- Incense (bukhoor): deliberately breathing in scented smoke is a different case. Many scholars, especially in the Hanafi school, say it breaks the fast, so avoid it until iftar (the evening meal).
Many deodorants contain alcohol. That's a separate question from fasting, and most scholars allow it for external use. See Is perfume with alcohol haram?
Smelling clean is part of good manners
You might have heard the hadith: "The smell coming out from the mouth of a fasting person is better in the sight of Allah than the smell of musk" (Sahih al-Bukhari 1894). It honors the effort of fasting. It doesn't mean you should stop caring about hygiene.
Being fresh and clean at work, school or the mosque is considerate, especially when you stand close to others in prayer. For women, using deodorant to prevent body odor is not the same as wearing perfume to be noticed. See Can Muslim women wear perfume in public?
Other toiletries while fasting
- Shower gel and shampoo: fine. Try not to swallow water in the shower.
- Toothpaste: allowed with care. See Can I brush my teeth while fasting?
- Makeup and moisturizer: fine, since they stay on the skin.
- Mouthwash: scholars allow it if nothing is swallowed, but many advise saving it for after iftar.
- Deodorant doesn't break your fast.
- Roll-ons are simplest; don't inhale sprays.
- Most scholars allow perfume; avoid inhaling incense.
- Staying clean while fasting is good manners.
