Can I wear tight or see-through clothes with hijab?

No. Hijab means clothing that covers properly: loose enough not to show your shape and thick enough not to be see-through. A headscarf with a tight or sheer outfit misses the point of hijab. The Prophet ﷺ warned specifically about women who are "clothed yet naked."
"Clothed yet naked"
The Prophet ﷺ described a group of people he hadn't yet seen, including women who would be "dressed but appear to be naked," and gave them a stern warning (Sahih Muslim 2128). Scholars explain this as clothes that are too thin, too tight or too short: technically clothing, but not covering. It's a picture many people recognize today.
The Asma hadith
Asma, the daughter of Abu Bakr, once came to the Prophet ﷺ in thin clothing. He turned away and told her that once a woman reaches puberty, only her face and hands should be seen (Sunan Abi Dawud 4104). The issue wasn't that she was uncovered, but that her clothes were too thin to cover properly.
Practical checks
- Light test: hold the fabric up to a window. If you can see through it, it needs a lining or layer.
- Movement test: sit, bend and raise your arms in front of a mirror. Does the fabric cling?
- Back view: check how trousers or skirts look from behind.
- Wet weather: some fabrics cling when damp.
Layering solutions
- Long slips or underskirts under sheer skirts.
- Thin long-sleeved tops under short-sleeved or sheer tops.
- Cardigans, kimonos and coats over fitted outfits.
- Opaque underscarves under chiffon hijabs, so hair and neck don't show through.

- Hijab clothes must be loose and opaque.
- The Prophet warned about being "clothed yet naked."
- Check fabric in light and in movement.
- Layers fix most tight or sheer items.
