Can Muslim men wear pink?

Yes, Muslim men can wear pink. No verse or authentic hadith forbids pink for men, and in Europe and the USA a pink shirt or polo is ordinary menswear. The only debates among scholars are about pure, bright red and certain dyes, and even those are disputed.
Colours are allowed by default
In Islam, clothing is permitted unless there is evidence against it. The Quran pushes back on people who forbid good things without reason:
The Prophet ﷺ wore different colours himself. Al-Bara' ibn Azib said he saw him in a red garment and had never seen anyone more handsome (Sahih al-Bukhari 3551). If a red outfit was worn by the Prophet ﷺ, a light pink shirt is clearly not a problem in itself.
What scholars do discuss
- Pure, solid red: some Hanafi scholars disliked plain bright red for men, while many others allowed it based on the hadith above. It's a difference of opinion, not a clear prohibition.
- Safflower-dyed clothes: the Prophet ﷺ told Abdullah ibn Amr not to wear two garments dyed with safflower (mu'asfar), a deep orange-yellow dye (Sahih Muslim 2077). Scholars understand this as a specific dye, not a ban on warm colours.
- Silk and gold: these are the materials actually forbidden for men, whatever their colour. See Can Muslim men wear gold rings?
Is pink "imitating women"?
Men are not allowed to imitate women in dress. But scholars say this depends on what a society treats as specifically female. In the UK and USA, a pink shirt with a suit, a salmon polo or a pink tie is standard men's fashion, so it isn't imitation. A pink item cut and styled as women's clothing, like a blouse or a dress, would be a different matter because of the cut, not the colour. Women have a similar question in reverse: Can Muslim women wear bright colors?
Modesty and intention still matter
Whatever colour you choose, the usual guidelines apply: cover from navel to knee, avoid see-through or very tight clothes, and dress without arrogance. When you put on a new shirt, you can say the sunnah dua. See What dua do I say when getting dressed?
- Pink is allowed for Muslim men.
- The Prophet ﷺ wore a red garment (Sahih al-Bukhari 3551).
- Scholars differ only on pure red and safflower dye.
- Silk and gold are what's forbidden for men, not colours.
