Can Muslim men wear tight clothes?

It depends on how tight. Muslim men can wear fitted clothes, like a slim shirt or slim-fit jeans, as long as the area from the navel to the knee isn't shown in shape. Very tight leggings or skin-tight trousers worn on their own, or clothes cut to look feminine, are discouraged or not allowed.
The rule: cover, don't outline
A man's awrah is from the navel to the knee, according to most scholars. Covering it means more than putting fabric over it. Scholars of all four schools say clothing should not be so thin that skin shows through, and tight clothing that clearly outlines the private parts is disliked at the very least, with many calling it not allowed in public. The upper body is lighter: a fitted T-shirt or a tailored shirt is normal and fine.
Allah addresses men first when He talks about modesty:
What's usually fine
- Slim-fit or straight jeans and chinos that aren't skin-tight. See Can I pray in jeans?
- Fitted shirts, polos and T-shirts.
- Suits with a normal, tailored cut.
- Compression tights or leggings for sport, with shorts over them. See Can I still wear shorts to the gym as a Muslim?
What to avoid
- Running tights, cycling shorts or leggings worn alone in public.
- Very skinny trousers that show the shape of the groin and thighs.
- See-through fabric over the navel-to-knee area.
- Clothes made to look like women's fashion. The Prophet ﷺ cursed men who imitate women and women who imitate men (Sahih al-Bukhari 5885).
Tight clothes and prayer
Prayer in tight trousers is still valid if the awrah is covered and the fabric isn't see-through, according to most scholars. But it's disliked, and very tight jeans can make sitting and prostrating awkward. Many brothers keep a looser pair of trousers or a thobe at work or in the car for prayer.
- Fitted is fine; skin-tight around the navel-to-knee area is not.
- Clothes shouldn't be see-through over the awrah.
- Wear shorts over sports tights.
- Avoid cuts made to look feminine.
