Can Muslim women wear trousers?

Yes. Trousers are fine as long as they're loose and opaque, and worn with a top long enough to cover the shape of your hips and thighs. Wide-leg trousers, palazzos and loose cargo pants are popular modest choices. In today's Western culture, women's trousers aren't considered men's clothing.
Allowed, with conditions
Islam doesn't specify garments; it sets conditions. Clothing in front of non-mahram men should cover the body, not be see-through, and not show the body's shape. Trousers on their own often outline the hips and legs, which is why scholars recommend pairing them with a long top, tunic, dress or coat that reaches mid-thigh or lower. Some scholars prefer skirts as more modest, but most allow loose trousers. Trousers can actually cover better than skirts when sitting, climbing stairs or cycling.
What about imitating men?
The Prophet ﷺ cursed women who imitate men and men who imitate women (Sahih al-Bukhari 5885). Scholars explain this based on custom: what's specifically worn by men in your society. In Europe and the USA, women's trousers have been normal for generations, are cut differently, and are sold as women's clothing. So wearing them isn't imitating men.
