Can Muslims go to Oktoberfest?

No, most scholars say Muslims should not go to Oktoberfest. It is built around drinking beer, and Islam forbids not only drinking alcohol but also sitting where it is served and enjoyed. You can still enjoy Munich, Bavarian food and autumn traditions in other ways.
Why the beer is the problem
Oktoberfest in Munich and its copies around the world are, at heart, beer festivals. The huge tents exist to serve litre-sized mugs, and the music, games and toasts all revolve around them. The Quran is clear about alcohol:
The command is to "avoid" it, which goes further than just not drinking. The Prophet ﷺ cursed wine, the one who drinks it, the one who serves it and others involved in it (Sunan Abi Dawud 3674). He also said that whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should not sit at a table where wine is being passed around (Jami' at-Tirmidhi 2801). See Can Muslims drink alcohol?
What if I only drink lemonade?
Ordering a soft drink doesn't change what's happening around you. A beer tent is the purpose of the event, not a side detail. That's different from a restaurant that happens to sell wine. The same reasoning applies to pubs. See Can I go to a bar with friends if I only drink soda?
Alcohol-free beer is another question again, and scholars differ on it. See Can I still drink non-alcoholic beer as a Muslim?
The fairground and the food
- Rides and stalls: some festivals have a funfair area away from the tents. A few scholars allow a short daytime visit there with family, as long as you avoid the beer halls. Many still advise skipping it, since the whole event centers on drinking.
- Food: roast pork, sausages and chicken from non-halal sources are the main dishes. Pretzels are usually fine, but check for lard.
- Work trips: if colleagues invite you, a polite "I don't drink, but let's grab dinner later" is usually respected.
Enjoy Bavaria another way
Munich has beautiful parks, castles, museums and mountains close by. Visit in autumn, try fresh pretzels and apple strudel, and see the Alps. You don't have to miss the culture to keep your faith.
