Can Muslims visit a vineyard or winery?

It depends on what you do there. Walking through a vineyard, enjoying the scenery and eating grapes is fine for Muslims. A winery visit built around wine tasting is not, because Muslims can't drink wine or take part in serving it. Grape juice, the landscape and the history are all open to you.
Grapes are a blessing
Grapes are halal and praised in the Quran. Allah even mentions them right next to the drink people make from them:
Scholars note that the verse calls the "good provision" good, but not the intoxicant. Wine was later forbidden completely. See Can Muslims drink alcohol?
What's fine
- Walking or cycling through vineyards in Tuscany, Bordeaux or Napa.
- Picking and eating fresh grapes, or buying fresh grape juice.
- Learning about farming, soil and history on a general tour.
- Photographing the landscape and having a halal lunch nearby.
What to avoid
The Prophet ﷺ cursed wine and the people connected with it, including the one who drinks it, serves it, sells it, presses it and carries it (Sunan Abi Dawud 3674). He also said that whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day shouldn't sit at a table where wine is being passed around (Jami' at-Tirmidhi 2801). So:
- Don't join tasting sessions, even "just to smell" or spit out.
- Don't buy wine as a gift or souvenir.
- Skip tours whose whole point is tasting and pairing.
- Don't take a job pressing, bottling or selling wine. See Can I do an internship at a company that sells alcohol?
Going with non-Muslim family or friends
If your family plans a vineyard day, you can usually go along for the walk and the meal. Politely sit out the tasting, enjoy grape juice instead, and explain simply that you don't drink. Most people will respect that. Some scholars advise avoiding wineries altogether to keep away from doubtful places, so if you feel uncomfortable, it's fine to suggest another outing.
- Vineyards and grapes themselves are halal.
- Wine tasting and buying wine are not allowed.
- Don't sit at a table where wine is being served around.
- Choose tours focused on nature, food or history.
