Is breast milk najis?

No, breast milk is not najis. Scholars of all four schools agree that human milk is pure. If it leaks onto your clothes or your baby spits up a little milk on your shoulder, you can still pray in those clothes without washing them first.
Why breast milk is pure
Islamic law treats human beings as pure, and milk from a living person is part of that. It isn't one of the things listed as impure (urine, stool, flowing blood, and so on). The Quran speaks of breastfeeding as a natural, blessed act and even sets its full length:
Babies drink it and Islam builds family ties on it (milk siblings), which wouldn't make sense for something impure. See How long should a Muslim mother breastfeed?
Leaks, pumping and prayer
- Leaking onto your bra or top: no need to change or wash before prayer. Many mums use nursing pads for comfort.
- Pumping at work: breast milk on your hands or clothes doesn't stop your prayer and doesn't break your wudu.
- Breastfeeding itself: feeding your baby doesn't break wudu either, even though part of the chest is uncovered.
- Breastfeeding while praying? Feed before or after; pause the prayer only if your baby truly needs you.
What about baby spit-up?
This is where scholars differ a little. Milk that comes back up straight away, before it has been digested, is treated by many scholars like the original milk, so it's pure. Vomit that has changed in the stomach is considered impure by the majority, but a small amount is excused, and some scholars excuse a baby's spit-up altogether because it is so hard to avoid. See Is vomit najis?
Baby urine is different
A baby's urine is impure, though Islam makes it easy: the Prophet ﷺ sprinkled water over the urine of a baby boy who was not yet eating food (Sahih al-Bukhari 223). Most scholars require washing for a baby girl's urine. See How do I clean baby urine for prayer?
- Human breast milk is pure by agreement of all four schools.
- Leaks on clothes don't stop you praying.
- Breastfeeding and pumping don't break wudu.
- Fresh spit-up is often excused; baby urine needs cleaning.
