Is it haram to take office supplies home?

Yes, taking office supplies home for personal use is haram unless your employer allows it. Pens, paper, toner and snacks belong to the company, and taking them without permission is a small form of theft. If your workplace says it's fine, or it's for work you do at home, there's no problem.
Small things still count
It's easy to think a few pens don't matter. But the Prophet ﷺ was strict about this exact kind of thing. He said, "Whoever among you we appoint to a job and he hides from us a needle or anything more, that is ghulul (stealing from a trust), and he will bring it on the Day of Resurrection" (Sahih Muslim 1833). A needle was about as small as property got in his time. The point is that workplace property is an amanah, a trust, whatever its size.
When it's allowed
- Clear permission. Some offices say "help yourself" to pens or leftover lunch. That's a gift and it's fine to take.
- Normal custom. Scholars accept what is clearly understood as allowed (urf), like a branded pen from a conference table or taking a printed meeting agenda home.
- Work at home. Taking a laptop, notebook or files home to do your job isn't theft. Just bring them back.
- Things being thrown away. If old chairs or equipment are being disposed of, ask first, then take them with a clear heart.
If you're unsure, ask. A quick "Is it okay if I take a few of these?" turns a doubtful act into a permitted one.
What about company time, Wi-Fi and printers?
The same principle covers printing personal documents, using the company account for personal shipping, or claiming expenses you didn't really have. Using what isn't yours without permission is a problem, even when no one would notice. A similar question comes up at home. See Is it haram to use my neighbor's Wi-Fi without asking?
If you've already taken things
Make tawbah and return what you can. If returning the items is awkward or impossible, you can pay their value back in a discreet way, or ask your manager for forgiveness in general terms. For older wrongs, see Do I have to pay back money I stole before becoming Muslim?
- Office supplies are a trust, even small ones.

- Return or repay what you took, and repent.
