In Jannah, people will wear garments of silk and brocade, often green, along with bracelets of gold, silver and pearls. Men and women alike will wear these, including things men avoid in this life. The clothes never wear out, and they're far beyond anything we can imagine.

Silk, brocade and green garments

The Quran describes the clothing of Paradise several times:

إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يُدْخِلُ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ جَنَّـٰتٍ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ يُحَلَّوْنَ فِيهَا مِنْ أَسَاوِرَ مِن ذَهَبٍ وَلُؤْلُؤًا ۖ وَلِبَاسُهُمْ فِيهَا حَرِيرٌ "Indeed, Allah will admit those who believe and do righteous deeds to gardens beneath which rivers flow. They will be adorned therein with bracelets of gold and pearl, and their garments therein will be silk." Quran 22:23

Other verses add green garments of fine silk (sundus) and heavy brocade (istabraq), worn while reclining on couches (Quran 18:31), and bracelets of silver (Quran 76:21).

What men give up now, they wear there

In this life, pure silk and gold jewelry are forbidden for men. The Prophet ﷺ said that whoever wears silk in this world will not wear it in the Hereafter (Sahih al-Bukhari 5832). Scholars explain that this is a promise as much as a warning: men who give these up for Allah will enjoy them in Jannah. See Can Muslim men wear gold rings?

Clothes that never wear out

The Prophet ﷺ said that whoever enters Paradise will live in bliss and never be miserable; his clothes will not wear out and his youth will not fade (Sahih Muslim 2836). No laundry, no fading, no "nothing to wear". Everyone will also be in the prime of youth. See How old will people be in Jannah?

Beyond what we can picture

When a fine silk cloth was gifted to the Prophet ﷺ and the Companions admired its softness, he said the handkerchiefs of Sa'd ibn Mu'adh in Paradise are better than it. If a handkerchief there outshines the best silk here, imagine the rest. Allah says no soul knows what joy is hidden for them (Quran 32:17). Any detail we describe is only a hint.

Modesty and comfort

  • Clothing in Jannah is about honor and beauty, not covering shame or keeping warm.
  • There's no heat or cold to protect from (Quran 76:13).
  • Hearts are free of envy, so no one compares outfits.
