Will my dog go to heaven in Islam?

It depends on what you mean by heaven. Islam teaches that animals will be gathered on the Day of Judgment and treated with perfect justice, and many scholars say they then turn to dust. Paradise isn't described as a place for pets. But the Quran promises believers in Paradise "whatever your souls desire," so no one there will feel any loss.
Animals will be resurrected
The Quran describes the Day of Judgment this way:
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said that on that day, rights will be restored to those owed them, "even the hornless sheep will lay claim upon the horned one" (Sahih Muslim 2582). Allah's justice reaches every creature, even animals that were treated unfairly. See Can I name my pet after a prophet?
What happens after that?
Many scholars explain, based on reports from the companions, that after animals are judged among themselves, they are turned to dust. Animals aren't held responsible like humans, so there's no Hell for them, and Paradise isn't described as their reward either.
Some scholars mention a few special animals in stories about Paradise, but there's no clear text that pets will join their owners there. It's honest to say: Allah knows best.
You won't feel any loss in Paradise
About the people of Paradise, the Quran says:
"You will have therein whatever your souls desire, and you will have therein whatever you request" (Quran 41:31).
Scholars explain that sadness and longing don't exist in Paradise. Whatever would make you happy, Allah can give. So you don't need to worry that heaven will feel empty without your dog.
How you treat your dog now matters
While you can't control your pet's afterlife, you can control your own record. The Prophet ﷺ told of a man who was forgiven for giving water to a thirsty dog (Sahih al-Bukhari 2363). Feeding, walking and caring for your dog kindly is a good deed written for you.

Grieving a pet
When a beloved pet dies, the grief is real. Islam doesn't mock that. You can cry, bury your pet respectfully, and thank Allah for the years together. Then ask Him to fill that space in your heart.
- Animals will be gathered and judged justly.
- Many scholars say they then become dust.
- In Paradise, believers lack nothing they desire.
- Kindness to your pet is rewarded for you.
